Anyone who has followed my work for some length of time will recognize beautiful K. I have been photographing her since she was around 20 weeks pregnant and today I can finally reveal the special story behind these sessions. Last fall I was contacted by Mr. R who was looking to purchase a series of maternity sessions. He explained that one of his best friends had just been deployed right after he and his wife found out they were expecting their first child. I can’t even imagine how difficult it must have been for this couple to say their goodbyes. It was Mr. R’s idea to gather their group of friends to help gift K with professional photo sessions to capture her pregnancy as it progressed. She would then surprise her husband when he came home with beautiful images that documented the pregnancy. I was honored to be considered for such a special task and knew in my heart that I could give them something amazing.
I met K in December for our first session and we clicked almost instantly, she was so easy and fun to photograph. Through a series of 6 maternity sessions I grew to know her more and looked forward to each session. It was so wonderful to capture her growing belly and envisioned it ending in a beautiful progression storyboard and an album for her and her husband to always have. It went so well that I was hired to do the baby’s newborn session once he or she arrived and I was so excited! Little Miss D took her time arriving into the world but she finally did and meeting and photographing her was an absolute joy. Thankfully Daddy was able to be present for the birth but had to return to finish up his tour of duty very soon after. So K and I planned a session for a couple months later when he would be back home and I could capture the whole family.
Well today was the day I FINALLY I got to meet V and photograph the entire beautiful family. K and Little Miss D were absolutely glowing in his love and the family was complete. K and V are a strong couple and such wonderful, loving and doting parents to sweet Miss D. It was an honor to be a witness to their story and love and to capture just the beginning of their family journey. Thank you to Mr. R for initiating all of this, it was wonderful to work with you. K and V are blessed to have such genuine and thoughtful friends. Thank you, K, for letting me be a part of your journey. I admire your positive upbeat attitude even though I know it had to be difficult and scary at times being pregnant with your husband overseas. It was so great to finally meet you, V. Thank you for all that you do for our country.
Now without further ado, meet the C Family!
