My kids are now 5 and nearly 4 and just a year ago they were so tired of me taking pictures of them. Now I go several months at a time without taking “real” photos of them and they are old enough to understand that I am a photographer and that I take pictures of other kids. They love seeing the photos I take and always ask about who I will be “taking pictures” of before a shoot. They are particularly interested in the gender of the kids and whether they are babies, “little boys,” or “little girls.” With this new found enthusiasm they’ve also been begging me to take new pictures of them. My daughter reminded me yesterday that I still haven’t done her “tea party pictures” and my little boy chimed in saying, “I’m going to be 4!” I decided I wouldn’t put it off any longer so here you go… an impromptu long overdue mini session.
First was my little boy who said he wanted to wear his “fancy clothes.” After we got him dressed, his hair combed and teeth brushed he picked out his monkey to be in the photos with him. While snapping away he reminded me of the tricks I used to use with him to get him to smile. I laughed out loud when he said, “Mommy, say the poopy word.” So I obliged and was laughing myself. He is so stinking cute!
Then the updated photo I’ve been meaning to do every year (whoops)… my little girl and her teddy bear tea party. I remember looking through my lens at her in 2010 in this setting. Recreating this yesterday and really seeing how she’s transformed into a little girl was amazing. She is such a sweet sweet little girl.
I just love them to pieces and am so proud of them. You will definitely be seeing more of these two again now that they are loving the camera!
On a less personal note, stay tuned for my surprise-themed session and 10×20 storyboard print wrap GIVEAWAY as I will be posting the details this week! And last but not least, I will be releasing the dates and locations for specially-priced spring mini session packages soon. Hope everyone is staying warm… just think warm spring thoughts.
